Calin & Trevor {Mt. Hood}

On April, 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

I was invited to photograph these two up at Mt. Hood which is one of my favorite places around. Knocking on the door I heard the sniffing of an excited participant to the days activities. Trevor opened the door and I was greeted by the aptly named Turbo the dog. I love dogs and when they are involved in a shoot I get a little giddy. Trevor, Calin and I decided to walk down to a bridge and Turbo was going a mile a minute. Staging the couple I walked along the banks trying not to sink into the deep snow. Mission failed…I sunk down instantly. Flashes of the movie Alive kept popping in my head as I was trying to traverse while climbing in and out of mini snow caves I was making with my body. When I finally got to where I wanted to be we took some shots then got Turbo into some. It was great. We then went to a lake behind their condo. The setting was exquisite with trees and a snow covered pond. Trevor and Calin were dressed to the nines and I looked like I just came off the set of Ice Road Truckers. They went down a pretty steep hill with ease, I on the other hand decided to be cool and slide down with my camera in one hand and a light stand in the other. Well, it looked like a good idea at the time. I slid, I said Uh Oh and I hit the bottom and did flip in the snow submerging my camera lens into the snow. Success. Trevor and Calin were good sports and we had a lot of fun on the shoot. I was the substitute photographer and I am a little envious of their actual photographer. I wish good luck to Trevor and Calin and of course, Turbo.

Nicole & John {The Oregon Olive Mill at Red Ridge Farms}

On April, 16, 2012 | 0 Comments

Nicole and John had a wonderful wedding day. We’d had such rainy weather leading up to it, but things cleared up perfectly by the afternoon and we were free to shoot all around the Red Ridge Farms grounds.

I really enjoyed shooting photos beforehand upstairs in the cottage. A spiral staircase lined with dried lavender? So cool. Once upstairs there was so much gorgeous window light to work with, and plenty of room for everyone to move around and lounge. Nicole really wanted a shot of sunlight streaming in through a window with her dress hanging, it was still cloudy out, but the dresser and window where I hung the dress created such a great little vignette. It turned out to be one of my favorite shots of the day.

Also, props to Nicole and John for stepping out into the rain for those last few fun shots at the end of the night. I was really happy to light up those drops in mid air!

Congrats again you two, it was great being part of your day!

From the couple :-)
From start to finish it was a great experience. The entire team was easy to work with and we appreciated the care that was taken in matching us with Peter.

Peter was great with both our during our engagement photos and the wedding day. Even when the other vendors got behind Peter managed to keep us on schedule for the day. Neither John or I are particuarly comfortable in front of the camera so were both nervous about the photos. I am still amazed that I felt as comfortable as I did by the end of the day. I’ve been at wedding where the photograhers were always in the way insearch of their shot. Peter managed to capture amazing moments throughout the wedding yet somehow managed to be almost invisible. We would recommend Peter without hesitation to any couple in the plannng stages of their wedding.

Melina & Jordan {The Governor Hotel}

On April, 13, 2012 | 0 Comments

I was blown away by the cute details at Melina and Jordan’s wedding. So much of their personality came through in their decoration choices, like their love of vintage photography, travel and reading. What’s more, their choices of venue fit perfectly.

I always like to impress upon couples that details are great, but in the end they merely serve as devices to set the right atmosphere for everyone to enjoy themselves. Well, the atmosphere was right on for Melina and Jordan. They had a blast, and I could really tell all their guests did too!

Congratulations again Melina and Jordan, it was wonderful being part of your wedding day!

From the couple :-)
We liked the effort and process put forth for helping us find the right style/photographer. Our photographer was great and Erin was very responsive to all emails/questions we had.We weren’t thrilled with the editing for our engagement photos, but your team listened and made the needed changes, which we really appreciate.

Peter was awesome. He was very enthusiastic about his ideas for photo opportunities, which we really liked. You can tell he is very passionate about photography, which we really liked. Plus, he was very nice and open to all of our suggestions and ideas for photos. He went out of his way to make sure we got all the right shots and included every photo that we wanted. Amazing to work with and very talented! We love the photos we’ve seen so far.

We had all sorts of ideas that we wanted to do for our photos and he made an effort to include all of them and was patient with us. Plus he was enthusiastic to be our photographer and made us feel comfortable at the wedding. He was also very respectful of the fact that we wanted our photographer to be discrete during the ceremony. He is very creative and had some really amazing ideas!

Michelle and Bjoern came all the way from NY for the weekend to do a lot of things related with their wedding. One of those things, was this engagement session. They picked the Peal District, a place I love to shoot. It was rainy, but Michelle and Bjoern were so brave and enjoyed very much being together.

Alexi & Tyler {The Pearl District}

On April, 11, 2012 | 0 Comments

You ever get to work and it takes something to kind of wake you up? The morning before my engagement shoot with Alexi and Tyler was nothing special. The weather was beautiful, a little siesta between rain storms. I did some work in the yard thinking about my session with them. I think it started with breakfast. I can honestly say that I may be middle aged but my taste buds are squarely stuck in my teenage years. Breakfast was leftover kung-pao and fried rice. I was getting ready to take my shower when I noticed that I ran out of bar soap. My father just visited and left his body wash. I decided to use that instead. Packing up for the shoot I noticed something….I smelled exactly like my dad. I smelled like Chinese food and old spice and let’s be honest folks, wouldn’t that kind of kick you off center? Alexi and I decided to start in the Park Blocks in the Pearl. I think my funk was instantly cured with the first click of this wonderful couple. Doing this for a long time, I enjoy seeing couples who are very natural together. The combined love for each other kind of makes it’s way onto the image. We utilized some of the brick walls there which served as a great backdrop. Alexi and Tyler were awesome even when I asked Tyler to contort his body in a very unnatural position. We all laughed as he tried to hold it. My bad. I think my favorite series of photos came near the Ecotrust building in the Pearl. I had Tyler hold Alexi and I asked them to relax and just kind of swing together. I could see their happiness, how Tyler loved holding Alexi. It’s easy for wedding photographers to become disenchanted as their photography becomes a job. I am constantly reminded that I’m lucky to have clients like Alexi and Tyler that love can be simple and not over done and allow me to enjoy my work so much. I can’t wait for their wedding at the beautiful Zenith Vineyards in the fall.
